I’ve been doing some serious research for a luxury train trip across India and stumbled upon the Maharajas’ Express Train, often described as the pinnacle of rail opulence. Naturally, one of my first questions was: How much does a single ticket cost?

Maharajas’ Express Fare Guide (Per Person, Twin Sharing)

The Maharajas’ Express Train offers different itineraries with fares varying according to cabin type and journey duration. 

For the 7-night journeys like The Indian Splendour and The Indian Panorama, the fare starts at USD 7,800 per person in a Deluxe Cabin, USD 10,000 in a Junior Suite, USD 14,500 in a Suite, and goes up to USD 25,000 in the Presidential Suite. 

The Heritage of India itinerary is slightly higher, beginning at USD 8,200 for a Deluxe Cabin, USD 10,400 for a Junior Suite, USD 14,500 for a Suite, and USD 25,000 for the Presidential Suite. For the shorter 3-night, 4-day journey – Treasures of India, fares begin at USD 4,900 per person in a Deluxe Cabin, USD 5,300 in a Junior Suite, USD 8,000 in a Suite, and USD 13,600 in the Presidential Suite. 

These fares are on a twin-sharing basis and include luxurious accommodations, fine dining, guided sightseeing tours, and exclusive experiences, making it a truly royal rail journey across India.
Thoughts & Discussion

• Worth the price? It's absolutely steep, but it is all-inclusive—meals, excursions, accommodation, guided tours, and more are part of the package. Definitely a once-in-a-lifetime experience if you can stretch the budget.
  
• Route matters. The 7-night trips offer broader coverage across iconic sights, while the 4-night Treasures of India gives a stronger value-per-day ratio if you're short on time or budget.
  
• Seasonal fluctuations. I read that traveling in off-peak months might save you some money—worth watching for deals Maharajas’ Express.
